Broward College South Campus Student Government Association (SGA) will be commemorating this historic event with activities related to this historic event. You will have an opportunity to learn more about the constitution and win prizes in the process. The Political Science Club will be on hand to register students to vote (if qualified) so they are eligible to vote in the upcoming midterm elections.

#BCHermanos , y #BCHermanas, Cada año, los estadounidenses celebran el Mes Nacional de la Herencia Hispana del 15 de septiembre al 15 de octubre, al celebrar las historias, las culturas y las contribuciones de los ciudadanos estadounidenses cuyos antepasados vinieron de España, México, el Caribe y América Central y del Sur. La observación comenzó en 1968 como Hispanic Heritage Week bajo el presidente Lyndon Johnson y fue expandida por el presidente Ronald Reagan en 1988 para cubrir un período de 30 días que comienza el 15 de septiembre y termina el 15 de octubre. Fue promulgada el 17 de agosto de 1988, en la aprobación de la Ley Pública 100-402. El día del 15 de septiembre es significativo porque es el aniversario de la independencia de los países de América Latina: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras y Nicaragua. Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988, on the approval of Public Law 100-402. The day of September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September18, respectively.
