¡Adelante! loosely translates to “moving forward” as we kick off Hispanic Heritage Month on #BCSouthCampus and start preparing for midterms exams. Here are some highlights from recent events and a sneak peek at upcoming events and exam reviews in the Academic Success Center.
We did a little salsa and merengue right into Hispanic Heritage Month. Student Life is organizing more events of Hispanic Heritage events this month but the food and dancing was a very nice start.
On Monday, September 17, Broward College South Campus Student Government Association (SGA) commemorated the 230th Anniversary of the Signing of the U.S. Constitution with activities related to this historic event. Students had an opportunity to learn little-known facts about the constitution, answer general questions about the U.S. Constitution, receive their own personal copy, register to vote for the upcoming midterm elections and win prizes and cupcakes in the process. Our SGA President and Student Life and “Benjamin Franklin” were the masters of ceremonies with Mr. Franklin providing comedic relief throughout the event with comedy like “What type of dance did they do in 1787”? the indepen-DANCE”. We will spare you the rest of Mr. Franklin’s “dated” material.
#SeahawkNation chatted and said hello to our campus safety officers led by Lt. Ted Hay and our Pembroke Pines Police Department campus resource officer this morning. ☕️ Coffee with a Cop (and donuts) was a success with help from Broward College Student Life South Campus.
#SeahawkNation would like to thank Pembroke Pines Police Department for the time and resources at our National Safety Awareness Month event. We appreciate all of the community organizations that came out in support of this great event to inspire, inform and educate our students.
Looking forward to working with all the student clubs this year!
